2008 Coastal Marine Resources Grant Request for Proposals

The Ocean Alaska Science and Learning Center, in collaboration with the National Park Foundation and the Alaska Region, is pleased to announce the 2008 Alaska Coastal Marine Resources Grant Request for Proposals. This program represents the Alaska Region’s continued commitment to investing in marine and coastal research, resource protection and education consistent with the National Park Service Ocean Park Stewardship Action Plan. Grant applications, guidelines, reporting requirements and forms are available by following the links below on this page. Proposals should be submitted electronically to peter_armato@nps.gov or, if email is not available, proposals may be faxed (907-224-7505) or mailed to:

Proposals may be submitted between October 15, 2007 and November 15, 2007. All proposals, whether submitted electronically or mailed, must be received by Kenai Fjords National Park no later than November 15, 2007. The OASLC, dedicated to understanding and preserving the marine ecosystem connecting Alaska's National Parks through research and education, is a partnership between Kenai Fjords National Park and the Alaska SeaLife Center (ASLC). Located in Seward, Alaska, the ASLC is a non profit state-of-the-art marine research facility dedicated to understanding and maintaining the marine ecosystem of Alaska.

One component of OASLC's mission is to fund relevant, high-quality coastal and marine research and related education programs that lead to improved resource knowledge, enhanced education opportunities for all sectors of the public, and environmentally sound resource management practices. Through a Competitive Grants Program open to Alaska's national parks, partner institutions, universities, and private, non-profit corporations, the OASLC fulfills a portion of its research and education objectives.
